NV Champalou Vouvray Brut

The grapes for the Vouvray Brut are picked at maturity, and early in the morning to best respect the quality of the fruit. The must is then fermented in stainless steel and the wine is raised on fine lees before bottling. A second natural fermentation takes place once the wine is in bottle that gives its effervescence. The bottles are aged sur lattes for two years before disgorgement. The Vouvray Brut "Méthode Traditionnelle" is a blending of three different vintages per cuvée.

Chardonnay

2012 Testarossa Chardonnay

Working closely with the top vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands’ appellation, Testarossa has produced yet another distinctive vintage of this highly anticipated Chardonnay. The Highlands is one of the state’s best-known regions for world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The area’s close proximity to Monterey Bay makes for a very cool climate, with one of California’s longest growing seasons. The resulting slow, gentle ripening allows for full flavor development on the vine. Testarossa’s production team’s partnership with the best estates in the Santa Lucia Highlands ensuring only the highest quality fruit makes it to the winery.  5,286 cases of this 2014 vintage have been produced.

2010 Mount Eden Vineyards Estate Chardonnay

The full bodied Estate Chardonnay displays fine underlying acidity and a long finish. Hints of cardamom, anise and hazelnut add interest to the core lemon, mineral flavors. Of all Mount Eden's estate-grown wines, the Chardonnay is most in need of further bottle aging at release, requiring an additional two to four years to fully reveal its true character. Many vintages are still fresh and enjoyable after fifteen years, explaining why Mount Eden Estate Chardonnay is considered one of California's longest-lived white wines.

2013 Domaine Eden Chardonnay

Domaine Eden's 2013 Chardonnay is subtle, poised and gracious to the core. Dried pear, dried flowers, sage, mint and chamomile grace the palate in this understated, exquisite Chardonnay. Hints of smoke, slate and dried pear reappear on the super-classic, expressive finish. What a gorgeous wine this is. Quite simply, the 2013 Domaine Eden Chardonnay is a tremendous wine for the money. In 2013, the blend is approximately 72% declassified Mt. Eden juice and 28% wine from the Domaine Eden estate proper. Jeffrey Patterson is one of the most laid back producers in California. His wines? They speak volumes. The Chardonnays are particularly strong this year at both the Domaine Eden and Mount Eden labels. Patterson told me 2013 a drought year, reminds him of 1984. I will take his word for it, as I was barely a teenager at the time. But tasting the wines, it is clear they are truly special from top to bottom.”

Interesting Whites

2015 Twomey, Sauvignon Blanc

Our 2015 Sauvignon Blanc is an alluring, expressive wine embodying the facets of our four estate vineyards. The blend of mineral-driven fruit from the Sonoma County vineyards and the lush tropical aromas derived from the Napa Valley vineyards develops complexity in the glass. Hints of white gold and straw illuminate this wine. The bouquet bursts with mango, guava and gardenias, while the sculpted palate focuses citrus and minerality into lime zest and wet slate. The bright attack, rich full body and refreshingly long finish are redolent of citrus acidity. The perfumed tropical notes stem from the dynamic terroir we work with. This is a medium weight wine to be paired with a variety of foods from an hors d’oeuvre of zesty gazpacho to a creamy seafood risotto. It will be a pleasant accompaniment to any meal. Our 2015 Sauvignon Blanc is a wine to be enjoyed throughout the year.

2014 Twomey Pinot Noir

This 2014 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir speaks of this classic growing region while being bold and powerful, yet elegant and nuanced. This rich red wine has the expected strength and deep purple fruit characterized by this lush valley, and there is a refinement, a thread of perfumed spice woven into the bouquet. This wine has a color reminiscent of the black-skinned Santa Rosa Plums native to this region. The breadth and attack is balanced by the plush fruit and the tactile acidity on the palate. There are elements of sassafras, dark caramel, and cinnamon overlaid on a base of juicy raspberry, sweet pine syrup, and wet, humus-rich soil. Warm flavors of spicy Indian cuisine or the sweet and savory elements of your favorite BBQ sauce promise to pair well with our Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
